How it works in detail
How is the price calculated?

Standard service is advertised at $75-$135 + tax for one recipient at one address. The client price is the server's own state fee plus a public $35 admin fee and any add-ons you select; sales tax is calculated automatically from the service address at payment, only where it applies, and shown before you pay and on your receipt. Standard service includes up to three documented attempts on different days and times, the first 50 printed pages, GPS-tracked attempt updates and a signed affidavit of service or non-service as a PDF. Current add-on amounts appear on the pricing page. Difficult or remote locations needing extra work, stakeouts and skip tracing can be submitted for a special quote; the client price is the server's quote plus the $35 admin fee, plus sales tax where it applies.

When do I pay?

Only after a process server accepts your job. You then pay online by card, and your payment is held until the job closes. You can create your account during checkout.

What documents can you serve?

Summons and Complaint, Petition, Subpoena, Motion, Notice, Writ, Divorce Petition and Eviction Notice. For anything else, choose Other on the request form. Upload your documents as a PDF and the page count is read automatically.

Where can you serve papers?

Anywhere in the United States: all 50 states and Washington, D.C. Enter the address with its state and ZIP code and the job is offered to verified process servers near it.

How do I track my job?

Every status change and attempt appears on your job's timeline in your dashboard, with the server's notes, the date and time, the GPS location and photos. We also email you at every update.

What if the person can't be served?

Standard service includes up to 3 documented attempts on different days and times, each logged on your timeline. If the person can't be served after 3 attempts on different days, you receive a signed affidavit of non-service. The price covers the attempts and is not refunded. You can order service again from the job page - at the same or a new address - and you see a fresh price before you submit.

Who can see my documents?

Your documents are stored privately. Only the process server assigned to your job, once you've paid, and Court Runner USA admins can open them. Your phone number and email are never shared with the server.

Can I talk to my process server?

No, there's no direct contact between clients and servers. You see your server's notes on your job's timeline in your dashboard and get an email at every update.

How do I get the affidavit of service?

When the papers are served, your server completes and signs the affidavit of service and uploads it. It is notarized only where the state or court requires it. You download the PDF from your dashboard, and a copy arrives by email.

How does approval work?

A person at Court Runner USA reviews every application before any job is offered. Once you're approved, job offers near you start coming in.

How do job offers work?

Each offer shows the area (city or neighborhood), document type, page count, service type, deadline and your payout. You have 30 minutes to accept or decline. If you don't respond, the offer goes to the next server.

When do I get the documents and the address?

After you accept and the client pays. The documents, the name of the person to be served, the full address and the instructions are then released to you.

How and when am I paid?

Your payout is shown in the offer before you accept. It's released after the job closes and paid to your own bank account through Stripe. Your dashboard shows your earnings and payout history.

Can I choose where I work?

Yes. When you apply, you set the states and cities you serve and your service radius, and you get offers near you. You can decline any offer.

Can I turn availability off?

Yes. Your dashboard has an availability toggle. Switch it on when you want offers and off when you don't.

How do I complete the affidavit?

Fill in the affidavit form in the job. Download the generated affidavit, sign it, and upload it. Notarization is required only where the state or court requires it. The client receives the signed PDF in their dashboard and by email.
