This Privacy Policy explains what personal information Court Runner USA (“Court Runner,” “we,” “us” or “our”) collects when you use our website and platform, how we use it, who we share it with and the choices you have. Court Runner USA is operated by Court Runner Inc. You may reach us at info@courtrunnerusa.com.
Who this policy covers
Court Runner USA is an online platform for ordering service of process anywhere in the United States, in all 50 states and Washington, D.C. The service is offered only in the United States. This policy applies to:
- Clients who create an account and order service of legal documents.
- Process servers who apply to join the platform and complete jobs.
- People and businesses being served, whose details clients give us so the documents can be delivered.
- Visitors who browse our website.
Information we collect
From clients
- Account and contact details: your name, company or law firm (optional), email address, phone number, billing address and sign-in credentials.
- Details about the person or entity to be served: name, entity type, and, if you choose to give them, a physical description, date of birth and photo.
- Service details: the service address or addresses, the best times to attempt service and any special instructions.
- Court and case information: the court, case or file number, state and case name, plus the document type, the service type and your deadline.
- Documents: the PDF files you upload for service.
- Payment information: card payments are processed by Stripe. Court Runner does not store full card numbers.
From process servers
- Contact and business details: your name, business name, email address, phone number and address.
- Service area and experience: the states and cities you serve, your service radius and your experience.
- Verification information: your license or registration number, insurance information, a copy of your government ID and your background check.
- Payout information: payouts are handled through Stripe Connect, which collects the details needed to pay you.
Recorded while a job is in progress
For each service attempt, the process server records the time, their GPS location, photos and notes. When service is complete, an affidavit of service is generated from the job record, signed and uploaded; notarization is required only where the state or court requires it. See Location data and photos below.

When you sign in, we set cookies that keep you signed in. Like any website, our servers may also receive basic technical information your browser sends with each request, such as your IP address and browser type.
When you accept our Terms of Service or, as a process server, our Independent Contractor Agreement, we keep a record of which version you accepted, when you accepted it, and the IP address and browser your acceptance came from.
How we use information
We use personal information to:
- create and manage accounts and verify who you are;
- show your price, match your job with a process server near the service address, and let that server attempt service;
- record each attempt and prepare, sign and deliver the affidavit of service;
- process client payments and pay process servers through Stripe;
- send email notifications when the status of a job changes;
- review process server applications, including ID, license or registration, insurance and background check, before a server is approved;
- answer questions and requests you send us through our contact page;
- protect the platform, our users and the people being served against fraud, misuse and security threats; and
- meet our legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
How we share information
We share personal information only as described here.
- With the assigned process server. After a client has paid for a job, the process server assigned to it can see what is needed to attempt service: the documents, the name and details of the person or entity to be served, the service address, the best times, special instructions and the court information. A client’s phone number and email address are never shared with process servers. There is no direct communication channel between clients and servers on the platform; Court Runner coordinates the job.
- With the client who ordered the job. The client sees the process server’s attempt records for their job (time, GPS location, photos and notes) and receives the signed affidavit, which identifies the process server who signed it.
- With Court Runner administrators. Our admins can access a job’s documents and service details to run the platform, review process servers, resolve problems and answer requests.
- With Stripe. Stripe processes card payments and process server payouts. Stripe handles that information under its own privacy policy.
- With our hosting and email providers. They store data and send email notifications on our behalf, and may use it only to provide those services to us.
- When required by law. We may disclose information to comply with a law, subpoena, court order or other legal process, or when we believe in good faith that disclosure is needed to protect the rights, property or safety of Court Runner, our users or others.
Affidavits are prepared so they can be filed with a court. Once a client files an affidavit, it may become part of the court record.
We do not sell personal information.
Location data and photos
Process servers record their GPS location, a time stamp and photos for each service attempt. This creates a verifiable record of when and where each attempt took place, and it is used to prepare the affidavit of service.
Attempt photos may show the service address, its surroundings or, where service is completed in person, the person served. Location and photos are recorded when a server logs an attempt on a job. They are available only to the client who ordered that job, the assigned process server and Court Runner administrators, unless disclosure is required by law.
People and businesses being served
If you are being served with legal documents through Court Runner, we received your information from the client who ordered service, not from you. That may include your name, address, the type of entity, and any description, date of birth or photo the client chose to give. We use it only to complete service, record the attempts and prepare the affidavit of service, and we share it only as described in this policy. If you have questions about your information, contact us through our contact page.
Cookies
We use cookies that are needed to sign you in and keep your session secure. If you block these cookies in your browser, you will not be able to sign in. We do not use cookies for advertising.
How we protect information
Documents and personal information are stored privately and are never placed on public links. Only the process server assigned to a job (after payment) and Court Runner administrators can access that job’s documents and service details. Card numbers are handled by Stripe, and Court Runner does not store full card numbers.
No method of storing or sending information is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. Please keep your password confidential and tell us through our contact page if you believe your account has been accessed without your permission.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information for as long as it is needed to provide the service and to meet our legal obligations, such as keeping records of completed jobs, payments and affidavits. When information is no longer needed for those purposes, we delete it or keep it in a form that no longer identifies you.
Your choices and rights
- Access, correction and deletion. You can ask us for a copy of your personal information, to correct or update it, or to delete it by contacting us through our contact page. We may need to keep some information to complete a job in progress or to meet legal obligations, and we will tell you if that applies.
- Email notifications. Status update emails are part of the service. They tell you about jobs you ordered or accepted.
We will verify your identity before acting on a request, to protect your information.
California residents
If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (CCPA/CPRA), gives you these rights:
- Right to know what personal information we collect, use and disclose, including the categories described in this policy and the specific pieces of information we hold about you.
- Right to delete personal information we collected from you, subject to legal exceptions.
- Right to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
To use these rights, contact us through our contact page. You may also use an authorized agent to make a request for you. We will verify the request before acting on it, and we will not treat you differently for using any of these rights.

Court Runner USA is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to create an account. If you believe a person under 18 has created an account, contact us and we will close it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy as the service changes. When we do, we will change the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. If a change is significant, we will also tell account holders by email or with a notice on the site.
